STICHTING PROMOTIE TRANSPORT HUMANITAIR

“STICHTING PROMOTIE” is a charitable foundation initially created by the Motorbike club “Mozamo” based in Zaanstad in The Netherlands. After a few years (when things grew out of hand) we established our own Foundation and are now operating completely independent of the Motor club. Please find below a short summary of our goals and activities. What does “Stichting Promotie” do? Our foundation provides direct humanitarian aid to the needing people of Eastern Europe and in particularly the Bulgarian and Romanian people in need. Each year we send several convoys of trucks full with clothes, food parcels, medicine, medical tools, (school-)furniture and blankets. We aim to provide structured assistance which will help to improve the standard of living for those people who are least able to help themselves. The strength of our organization lies in the fact that we control our projects from beginning to end, from the collection of goods and materials right through transportation and distribution. Direct help to the people that need it. Who benefits from our assistance? The Foundation gives assistance to Schools, Hospitals, Old Peoples Homes, Homes for the handicapped and mentally ill, Orphanages and even villages which consist mainly of gypsy families (who form the most deprived members of society). The amount and form of aid changes, depending on the particular need at the time. One year a Hospital may be in need of beds while the next year furniture for an Old Peoples Home could be the priority. We receive requests from private citizens, government organizations and medical facilities. Our Foundation maintains contact with other foundations also working in the aria; we are able to offer assistance with transportation of goods and often provide these foundations with goods which they are not able to obtain themselves. Who pays for this aid? Obviously the organization of a humanitarian aid convoy costs a lot of money. We need money for petrol to run the large lorries. We raise funds and have many volunteers. Our foundation organizes regular fund raising events In the past years we have existed, we have also developed a good relationship with local businesses who support our efforts with goods where possible. What sort of goods do we provide? Clothes, shoes, food parcels, medicine, school furniture, hospital beds, wheel chairs, paint, bibles, grocery, medical equipment, toys, computers, teaching materials, blankets, injection needles, baby prams to give just a small example.
