Stichting Promotie
houdt zich al sinds 1993 bezig met humanitaire hulp aan Oost Europa en dan vooral gericht op
Roemenië en Bulgarije.

Na de plotseling toch invallende, heftige vorst- en sneeuwperiode konden we eindelijk maandag 27 februari weer transporten doen naar Roemenië. Dankzij de gulle medewerking van onze hoofdsponsor (Transportbedrijf Van den Heerik) konden we twee transporten tegelijk doen.

Jaap Koning en Jan Nome hebben hulpgoederen naar ons "nieuwe" project in Ticau gebracht en Charles Buiter en Rob Booden zijn naar Marghita en Tinca geweest om hulpgoederen af te leveren. Vanuit Marghita hebben zij nog weer een aantal bedden uit de opslag aldaar meegenomen en ook in Tinca gelost. Deze werden daar weer opgehaald en gebracht naar een bejaardenopvangtehuis in Drumbrava.

In de strenge vorst- en sneeuwperiode hebben de armsten het natuurlijk het hardst te verduren gehad en als er dan iets te krijgen is, wil iedereen vooraan staan natuurlijk. Jan en Jaap hebben bij het lossen meegemaakt dat er politie aan te pas moest komen om te voorkomen dat de mensen slaags raakten bij het lossen van de goederen. Je kunt het die mensen niet eens kwalijk nemen, want als je niets hebt voor jezelf en voor je gezin . . . . .

In het (particuliere) opvangtehuis voor bejaarden met een handicap of met een terminale ziekte in Tinca hebben Charles en Rob ook weer met tranen in hun ogen gestaan.

Niet dat het er slecht uit zag of smerig was, integendeel. De verzorgenden doen vreselijk hun best en het ziet er keurig netjes uit. De 'patienten' zijn ook erg blij dat er mogen verblijven.

Er zijn echter zoveel van deze trieste gevallen en men probeert zo veel van die bejaarden op te vangen dat het tehuis gewoon overvol is.

Als je dan het verschil ziet met de verzorgingstehuizen, waar wij wel eens afgekeurd bedden hier in Nederland ophalen om naar Roemenië te brengen, mag je toch wel heel dankbaar zijn dat je wiegje hier heeft gestaan. (een fotoverslag komt zodra Charles weer terug is van zijn volgende rit)

In de planning staat dat komende maandag - 12 maart - Jaap Koning en Charles Buiter naar Breaza gaan en de week er op - 19 maart - Jan Nome met zijn zwager Loek Weel naar de boerderij in Marghita.

Kort na het vertrek op 5 december j.l. van de trailers met transportnummers 33 en 34, vol hulpgoederen en die volgens onze planning de laatste twee transporten in 2011 zouden zijn, ontvingen wij van onze sponsors en sympathisanten nog grote hoeveelheid levensmiddelen.

Met de winter in aantocht is daar in Oost-Europa veel behoefte aan, zodat we besloten daarom nog een extra transport in te zetten. Lees hier verder:

Ook Mihai Cercel, een orthodox priester in Dambu, district Bistriza, heeft van deze goederen die hij via Imola en Chaba Fazakas heeft gekregen een 70 tal pakketten gemaakt. Die heeft hij uitgedeeld in twee dorpjes aan ouderen en armen. Verder heeft hij pakketten gemaakt voor kinderen op de school en kleuterschool, die daar zijn uitgedeeld.

Thank you so much for the truck you have sent. It is a great load and it will be very useful for the area and for the people in need.

More and more people now are in difficulty and more people are desperate for food and help.

I have a lot of requests, but I am not able to reply to all of them, because I can do only so much.

Today the Child protection agency asked me if I can take 3 more children in the house. They come from a family and otherwise they will go to a state-orphanage where things are still very bad. It was a girl of 2 years old, a boy of 4 and another girl of 9 and they were all brothers. So I was very sorry to tell them that I have no means of helping them at all. Our house Casa Iona is full.

I am trying to help the mother of 6 children (of which we have 3 children now in Casa Ioana) as she is desperate and has no place to go and soon she will be on the streets with her 3 other children.

I am also very impressed of how many people kill themselves nowadays in Romania. It is more and more on the news and today it was 2 (in Botosani only) and I am surprised of that. One of them was a young girl (21 years old) who was pregnant and she killed herself.

Many kill themselves because the bank is taking their house and they need to go on the street. The Romanian authorities have no program of helping such people at all. In my church by next year 5 families will loose their house which will be taken by the banks.

A lot of businesses are closing down and the ones that keep working make very small progress and do not survive for a very long time. I have taken the drivers of the truck Peter (Spaans)and (Haye) Nicolay through the town and showed them how many shops are for rent or for sale. This is because businesses can not afford to keep going on.

There are a lot of houses for sale and much land and many flats. The prices are almost 50% off from what it was 2 years ago. So now properties do not sell and this is a blocked market.

I have spoken also to The Child Protection Agency and they have a special pale for young mums. Girls of 15 or 16 get pregnant and the parents do not want the girl home anymore. So she is to go on the street. So the Child Protection Agency has her for 3 month and then she will be on the street.

Most of the food from the truck will go to the people in Hiliseu Horia, sultana's included.

Hospital things went to the hospital in Dorohoi. The director from there called me and asked me to help as much as we can, so almost all of it is gone there.

The hospital beds and a lot of wheelchairs are for another small hospital In Dumbraveanu. I know the administrator there, so he asked for some help too.

So, this time we helped 2 hospitals.
